WHAT: The Southwest Valley's first hospital is commemorating its grand opening with a free community open house and ice cream social. West Valley Hospital located in Goodyear celebrates its roots in the Southwest Valley by involving volunteer groups, schools, Luke Air Force Base and the Phoenix Coyotes in the festivities. Community members are invited to get to know "their" hospital, tour the new facility and meet the healthcare staff, while experiencing the old fashioned goodness of an ice cream social. The event also provides an opportunity to participate in health screenings throughout the day. A children's area will host a teddy bear clinic, arts & crafts and storytelling, and some of the newest West Valley residents, The Phoenix Coyotes, will be at the event to sign autographs.
